The proposal by De Rujula, Georgi and Glashow as an explanation of the ΔI=1/2 rule is shown to enhance calculated strangeness changing processes arising as higher order effects of the weak interactions. The ratio of the charmed to the ordinary quark masses has to be unreasonably small in this model to explain the observed rate of the decay K_L→2γ and the K_L-K_S mass difference.
