The field theory limit of superstring theories in ten dimensions suggests a compactification on six dimensional Ricci-flat, Calabi-Yau manifolds. Cosmological implications of this scenario are explored. In particular, it is shown that there exist transient inflationary solutions without the cosmological constant problem.
