Superconducting properties of cuprate superconductors are theoretically studied using a model in which superconductivity is primarily generated in the CuO_2 layers and superconductivity in the other layers is induced by the proximity effect. The anomalous temperature dependence of the Knight shifts and the nuclear magnetic relaxation rates for Cu and O ions in YBa_2Cu_3O_7 are explained by a theoretical result based on this model. The structure of the flux lines is very different depending on whether the flux lines are parallel or perpendicular to the layers. An unusual magnetization process in the mixed state follows the anomalous nature of the interaction between the flux lines.
