Based on the ionic-crystal model carrier distribution in several oxide superconductors has been determined. A good agreement of our results with experiments indicates that the Madelung energy is a key factor to determine the carrier distribution in these substances. The correlation between the occurrence of superconductivity and oxygen ordering in the basal plane in some substances of the YBCO system has also been explained from the viewpoint of the ionic-crystal model. Possibilities of doping CuO_2 planes of some oxides with electrons are discussed.
