The tensor correlations in nuclei are studied by paying special attention to the momentum-transfer dependence of nuclear spin-isospin transitions. In terms of projection operators, we formulate the renormalization of spin-isospin transition operators for electromagnetic excitation of nuclei. In particular, the cross sections for the inelastic electron scattering and for the photoproduction of pions from ^6Li have been calculated and the roles played in the transitions by the tensor force as well as other types of nuclear effective interactions are discussed.
