q-Phase Transitions and Dynamic Scaling Laws at Attractor-Merging Crises in the Driven Damped Pendulum : Progress Letters

• Near an attractor-merging crisis in the driven damped pendulum, q-phase transitions are observed. Just before the crisis, the values of the linear slopes of the expansion-rate spectrum ψ(Λ) are in good agreement with theoretical estimates, and just after the crisis, the scaling law Δψ(ΔΛ)=τ^<-1>B(ΔΛ) is shown to hold.
