The number distribution of gray prongs in hadron-nucleus collisions is formulated in the framework of leading particle cascade model. The cascade processes of recoil protons and recoil neutrons are taken into account in our formalism on the analogy of the birth and death problem in the stochastic processes. Comparison of our model with the experimental data is also made.
