Schrodinger Equation Approach to Rotating Spiral Waves in Reaction-Diffusion Systems

Rotating multi-armed spiral waves in general reaction kinetics are studied from a new standpoint based on the Schrodinger equation representation. The present theory reveals that physical (ordinary) solutions correspond to the ground state of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation. The repulsive behaviour of the potential near the center of rotation is also shown. This theory is applied to a simple model in order to show the explicit form of the potential by means of numerical simulation.
