Statistical mechanical effects of the low-lying energy levels on the equilibrium properties are studied for the one-dimensional Ising system in the close vicinity of X_r≡J_1+2J_2+…+rJ_r=0 with J_i the l-th neighbor-coupling constant, assuming J-1, |J_2|,…|J_r|≫k_BT. For the system with X_r>0, whose ground-state is ferromagnetic, a 'critical' temperature T_D is shown generally to exist. In accordance with Stephenson's one for the system with J_1 and J_2, T_D has the following meaning. The spin-pair correlation function oscillates in distance for T>T_D, while it decays monotonically for T<T_D. The present treatment also covers the case in the presence of the external magnetic field under similar conditions to those described before.
