The Van Hove formula for neutron scattering is generalized to include multiple scattering. The differential cross section is written in terms of the many-particle space-time correlation functions for the target system. As a simple example, a heavy gas system is treated, and the behaviour of the multiple elastic scattering is discussed for the cases of the low- and high-energy limits of the incident neutron energy.
