We investigated the elastic scattering of high energy neutron by deuteron, using the two-body scattering amplitudes and the deuteron wave functions calculated making use of the meson theoretical potential. We found that (1) the impulse approximation can well reproduce the experimental result of the differential cross section in the region θIsim90° near 100 Mev neutron energy, (2) the phase shifts of nucleon-nucleon scattering and the deuteron wave function derived by using meson theory may give the best fit among others, and (3) the impulse approximation will also be expected to well reproduce the polarization at small angles. The experiment of the polarization may serve as a further test for discriminating various sets of phase shifts of nucleon-nucleon scattering.
