In order to get a solution to the problem revealed in connection with current commutators in the spin-1/2 quantum electrodynamics, the Lagrangian is extended to a nonlocal but gauge invariant form. The consistency of field quantization, field equations and current commutators is obtained without taking the limit to the local theory. Some specific phenomena are described which the nonlocal theory, though it is noncovariant, will predict.
