The photoproduction of lepton pairs is discussed on the basis of perturbative QCD. The twist-2 photon operator, as well as the usual quark and gluon operators, is needed in order to factor out the mass singularities from the structure function of parton subprocesses. Parton hard-scattering cross sections beyond the leading order are calculated, which constitute the full cross section of the process in combination with the β-function and anomalous dimensions of 2-loop order.
