• The "yukata" is a thin cotton kimono. So, it is strengthened by the "kata-ate" and the "ishiki-ate." The "yukata" is supposed to be worn as a comfortable garment to relax in at home and as a kind of bathrobe. Traditionally it was worn without underwear. Also, people are beginning to wear the "yukata" when they go out. So, I asked the housewives how they felt about the "kata-ate." As a result of these inquiries, I found that the ideas about the "kata-ate" have been gradually changing. This is what I found:
