This paper discusses the advantages of individualized learning in CALL and how CALL should be placed within the curriculum in order to promote an effective learning environment. First, the paper discusses how to promote effective learning environment in CALL by suggesting three important issues. They are 1) Integration of CALL into the regular language program, 2) Teacher's role, 3) Appropriate task design. Second, the study of five groups using CALL in relation to the results of TOEIC scores over one academic year is discussed. The results of the study support the importance of providing appropriate learning environment and instructional practices in order to promote effective learning in CALL.
