Japan accepted the GATT agreement in 1993. According to the GATT agreement, Japan has to reduce the tariff of dairy products from 1995. The only existing Japanese Dairy Products Model, however, is the Yuize model. But Yuize's model is no longer useful, because having been developed in 1976 Yuize's model is now old and out of date. In particular it doesn't consider the joint product between butter and skim milk powder. In this paper we attempt to propose a theoretical framework and some equations for a Japanese raw milk and dairy products econometric model. The major technical characters are as follows. 1. We examine the fact that there is competition between producers' cooperatives in Hokkaido and the rest of Japan (Tofuken). 2. Most of euqations were drawn from a theoretical framework which is based on the principal of maximizing behavior. 3. We examine the joint product among butter production, skim milk production and condensed skim milk production.
