I know that you give Chikamatsu's 'Kyojitsu-Hiniku-ron' serious consideration. It's matter of course, because this is Only One Drama Theory which was spoken by Chikamatsu himself , written down by somebody and left. In this essay, I intended to make the real significance through a series of analyses of a work; "Yugiri-Awa-no-Naruto(1712)" , taking into account the social context especially about prostitution in public. There was some guide books in this special field of 'research' . The characteristic view which was common to them was sympathetic and merciful attitude to prostitutes. Not only they forgave that kind of women's lies and sin, but they idealized the vocation and the ladies. The guide books were pieces of a kind of speculative philosophy, indeed, and reflected in Chikamatsu's masterpieces and his drama theory. Chikamatsu's 'Kyojitsu-Hiniku-ron' is shortly a theory of fiction and reality. Scholars tends to take that as a problem of subtle distinction between 'fiction and reality' like a kind of a infinitesimal target. The audience demand reality to accept the drama. But they desire fantasy for consolation, too. My intention is to prove the 'Kyojitsu-Hiniku-ron' is mainly a dynamics between the two factors, anyways.
