Effect of Clearance Ratio in the Use of Open-Type Centrifugal Pump for Pumping of High-Viscosity Liquids

When the open type centrifugal pump are used for pumping the high-viscosity liquids, the effect of the clearance ratio for the pump performance is large. In this study, rearranging the results of the previous report, the effects of the Reynolds number and the clearance ratio for the pump performance at the maximum efficiency point are examinded. In addition, the ratio of the performances in the highviscosity liquids for the performance in water at the maximum efficiency point is obtained, and the effect of the Reynolds number from these results was clarified. Then, the evaluation to the clearance ratio is carried out from the pump performance in the high-viscosity liquids. The suitable clearance ratio was found out for pumping the high-viscosity liquids.
