In using high viscosity liquid in a centrifugal pump, it is an embarrassing problem that pump performance decreases as the viscosity becomes higher. It is caused by the change of the efficiency due to the various losses such as the disk friction loss, the loss owing to the channel flow inside of an impeller, the shock loss, the leakage loss, and so on. In the previous paper, the pump performance for the change of impeller blade number and the analysis of shaft power was reported. In this paper, the effect of the Reynolds number on the loss owing to the channel flow inside of an impeller, the slip factor at the impeller outlet and the shock loss at the impeller inlet were clarified for the change of the impeller blade number, when high-viscosity liquid was pumped up. Further, the state of the slip and the secondary flow in the channel flow inside of an impeller was clarified by using the depth taft method for the visualization of the internal flow of an impeller. Here, an open type impeller having 73° in impeller outlet angle was used for the experiment, and its impeller blade number was 3,4,6 and 8. The Reynolds number in the experiment was in range of 1.78×10^4∿2.67×10^5.
