Optical transfer function (OTF) and impulse response function of images taken by a focal plane shutter are derived. OTF shows low pass filter characteristics. The band width of the filter is inversely proportional to relative velocity (velocity of image/velocity of focal plane shutter) and width of the shutter. The spatial frequency along the moving direction of the focal plane shutter changes. Some of the characters are confirmed by experimental results. The impulse response function is a line segment. RGB-coded focal plane shutter is proposed to record flying particles.
