An imaging tactile sensor is designed. The sensor is composed of transparent, hard acrylic plate and transparent, soft gel sheet with aluminium powder on its surface. When the sensor contacts with an object, its surface deforms. Light scattering from the surface is used to detect the deformation. The sensor is applicable to input device for embossed patterns.
