Evaluation of Vibration-Damping of Damper with Visco-Elasticity Material

Vibration system that is treated in this paper has single degree of freedom, that is consinted of four dampers and a mass. The damper is assembled by a coil spring and the visco-elasticity materials (VEM). Vibration transmissibilities of the this system are calculated analytically and their values are measured by the experiments. The vibration transmissibility is a function of the exciting frequency, and is influenced by the ration of the static spring constant of the coil spring and the dynamic shear spring constant of the VEM, and the loss factor of the VEM. The vibration transmissibilities of the VEM are mesured by forced vibration of the damper system, and are compared with the calculated values. The calculated values agree approximately with the measured values. It is demonstrated that the damper with the VEM has good performance in vibration control.
