Rubber vibration isolators are widely used as vibration isolating members. In this paper, vibration reduction effects (vibration transmissibilities) of the dynamic absorber consist of a mass and a rubber element are analyzed theoretically. Mass and complex spring systems are applied to the equivalent model of the dynamic absorber. When the primary system has no damping (loss factor), the fixed point theory can be used and the optimum tuning condition and loss factor are obtained. When the primary system has a damping, the fixed point theory cannot be used. The optimum design method is discussed in this case. The optimum tuning condition values are derived from values of the fixed point theory and a correction factor, and a general theory is formulated for the dynamic absorber with rubber vibration isolator.
