A patient who showed prosopagnosia, topographical disturbance and geometrical agnosia is presented here. A right homonymous hemianopsia and weakness of the right hand were neurological deficits. Brain scan suggests that the underlying lesion was infarction involving the left medial occipital region. It is generally supposed that prosopagnosia is caused by the lesion of non-dominant (right) hemisphere. In contrast with this, prosopagnosia that our right-handed patient showed, seems to be due to the lesion of dominant hemisphere. It is, however, found that there are left-handed persons in his family history. Still more, specific symptoms which indicate the lesion of dominant hemisphere were not revealed. Consequently we supposed that the patient was a latent left-hander. From this viewpoint, the symptomatology of prosopagnosia was discussed.
