The function of the TRC of NZB mouse was investigated in the ability of T-cell differentiation after the transplantation into nu/nu mice compared with the control, normal mice-TRC. The appearance rate of Thy 1 positive cells of nu/nu mice recovered to the almost normal range in the case of normal mice-TRC, and also some elevation was noted in the case of NZB-TRC. ^3Hthymidine uptake of nu/nu spleen cells incubated with Con A in culture solution of TRC groups were higher than that of the control fibroblast group. ICR-TRC group showed a slight effect compared with NZB-TRC group. When tumor cells were transplanted after introducing TRC all of the ICR-TRC cases rejected the tumor, while some of the NZB-TRC cases rejected the tumor and some did not. Values of PFC/spleen and IgG levels in serum after transfer of TRC or fibroblasts were extremely higher in the TRC groups than in the control fibroblast group, but there was no significant difference between NZB-TRC and DBA/2-TRC. It was clarified that NZB-TRC is deficient in function compared with normal mice-TRC.
