The definitive version is available at www.blackwell-synergy.com.Background: Liposarcoma is the most common soft tissue sarcomas in adults, and ittypically occurs in either the retroperitoneum or extremities. However, this malignanttumor is very rare in the female reproductive system.Case: As 58-year-old female presented with acute abdominal pain, and computedtomography (CT) scan detected multiple masses measuring 4-6 cm in size with a fattydensity in her adnexal region. Laparoscopic evaluation revealed tumors of the leftfallopian tube with normal left ovary. Histopathologic evaluation of the resected pelvictumors showed lipocytes and lipoblasts of various sizes, leading to diagnosis ofwell-differentiated liposarcoma of the left adnexal region. Conclusion: This is the first known case of a liposarcoma arising from the fallopian tube. When a pelvic mass with fatty density that does not show typical findings of a maturecystic teratoma is detected by either CT or magnetic resonance image (MRI) imaging, the possibility of a liposarcoma should be considered.
