A life design theory is not yet established. It is, however, needed. After modern times society became large and complicated. But, on the other hand, old communities collapsed ―― fundamental certainty and confidential relationships were spoiled. Instead of this, the market system appeared and, based on it, the civil society was established. However, it was competitive and put pressure on the meaninglessness of man. In the present age, this is stronger still and wide ranging. Its result is degradation of morals, the principle of living only for the pleasure of the moment, epicureanism, and nihilism.What is life design ? What should it be? This is the purpose of this paper. A life can be classified into a "life (as an object of biology)", "a life (of leading ordinary life)", and "life(in the path of one's life)."Life appeared 3,800 million years ago and carries out self‐reproduction. This self‐duplicate = reproduction and death are the basic functions of a living thing. And design can be prescribed "To give a form to a certain thing for a certain purpose." This purpose is "something good".
