Ejection Dynamics of a Semiflexible DNA Polymer from a Capsid

We present Langevin dynamics simulations to study the ejection of a semiflexible DNA polymer chain from a spherical capsid. We explore the ejection process, forces, and velocity, depending on the bending rigidity of semiflexible polymers. We find that there are three stages in the ejection process as a function of time and the number of ejected beads. The ejection speed of semiflexible polymers has a maximum at an intermediate stage of the ejection. The bending penalty of a semiflexible DNA polymer inside a capsid holds the key to determining the maximum speed.
