Using an effective Hamiltonian parametrized using first-principles caluculation, Monte Carlo simulations are perfomed in order to study the field-induced structural phase transition of BaTiO3. Also, we study the effect of an external stress on ferroelectric films by explicitly treating in-plane stress in simulation. The results show that the phase sequence, transition temperatures, and field-induced structural phase transition of BaTiO3 are significantly influenced by external stress.
