High Speed Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography with Forward and Side-Imaging Probe

We report the high speed spectral domain optical coherence tomography (OCT) with the frame rate of 40 frames/s (fps) using the InGaAs line scan camera and the optical probe with forward and side-imaging. This optical probe with the diameter of 2.6 mm is compact and robust and available to commercial endoscopes. The forward and side-images can be measured simultaneously and total imaged region is $1.5\times 6.9$ mm2 (axial $\times$ circumference, $256\times 477$ pixels). The axial and lateral resolutions in an air are 18.2 and 23 μm, respectively. The system sensitivity was also measured at 93 dB. OCT images of in vivo human ventral finger tips, in vivo pinna of rat and ex vivo bronchus of rat are shown.
