On the basis of the classical laminate plate theory, a refined model of microscopic thermodynamic is proposed for the irreversible thermoelastic deformations of composite laminates. The formulation admits axis-parallel and axis-perpendicular irreversible processes under various mechanical and thermal boundary conditions at the edges of each lamina, and is applicable to flat or patterned laminated plates. Analyses are performed for the time evolution of plane topography with the dynamical temperature, and the results show good agreement with those of previous reports.
