A novel hybrid fiber-optic current sensor using two Faraday glass slab (FGS) magnetic field sensors is presented. Using the geometry that a current-carrying wire is placed in between two FGS sensors, we are able to construct a very reliable, easy-to-use, remote sensor for measuring the electrical current in the wire. Common mode interferences caused by the other currents are minimized by differentially processing magnetooptic signals.
