Observation of Modulated Lasing Spectra from a Very Thin Dielectric-Coated Circular Microcavity

The interferential modulation effect on lasing spectra was observed in a very thin dielectric-coated circular microcavity, in which the coating thickness was comparable to the wavelength of light. The measured interference period was much shorter than that predicted by a ray-optic model. A semi-wave picture model of the interference period was proposed and empirically tested in a cylindrical microcavity laser.
