Substitution of Sm3+ and Nd3+ for Bi3+ in SrBi8Ti7O27 Mixed Aurivillius Phase

Sm3+ and Nd3+ substitution for Bi3+ in SrBi8Ti7O27 with mixed layer structure was investigated. The solid solution limit of Sr(Bi1-xSmx)8Ti7O27 was between $x=0.15$ and $x=0.25$ while that of Sr(Bi1-xNdx)8Ti7O27 was between $x=0.05$ and $x=0.15$. The temperature stable dielectric ceramics with high dielectric constants (${>}100$) were obtained by Sm3+ and Nd3+ substitution for Bi3+ in SrBi8Ti7O27, where the dielectric loss varied from 0.002 to 0.02 at 1 MHz.
