Preparation of Ferromagnetic $m$-Phenylene-Type Copolymer Containing Thiophene Derivatives in the Side Chain

Copolymers of $m$-phenylene and 1,3,5-triazine were synthesized. The polymers had a $\pi$-conjugated thiophene-based unit as a p-dopable side chain. The polymer having a 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene-based unit was oxidized by treatment with NOBF4, and this p-doped polymer exhibited a magnetic hysteresis loop at 5 K.
