We demonstrated a simple configuration for high-power 589-nm-light generation by sum-frequency mixing using 1064 and 1319 nm Nd:YAG lasers in continuous-wave oscillation. A periodically-poled KTiOPO4 crystal was set in the 1064 nm laser and a 1319 nm beam emitted from an independently constructed Nd:YAG laser was input in the 1064 nm laser from outside of it. An output power of 980 mW at 589 nm was obtained and the output power was 8 times higher than that in extracavity sum-frequency generation using the same apparatus.
