The purpose of this study was to determine women's college students' perceptions of appropriate clothings to fragrances. One hundred and six students rated the degree of appropriateness of five types of clothing (long sleeved traditional women's costume Furisode in Japanese, Jeans, Negligee, Suit, and Long-Dress) for each of five types of fragrance (Floral, Fruit, Green, Oriental, Citral).<BR>The results of Friedman two-way analysis of variance indicated that there were significant differences in the mean ranks of the appropriate clothing for each of fragrance. The Long-Dress and Suit were perceived to be appronriate to Floral, Jeans to Green, and Furisode, Suit, and Long-Dress to Oriental. No clothing served in this study was perceived appropriate to Fruit or Citral.
