The effect of a shape of an air canal along the chase is investigated on an effective retrieving method of a yarn end, from the view point of an energy-saving, by using a cylindrical, conical or intermediate air guide as a hood. The experimental results on the pressure distribution at the wall surface along the model bobbin axis suggest the flow pattern in the axisymmetrical canal between the bobbin .and hood attatched to the bobbin. The flow pattern can be understood by the concept based on the conclusion of the previous paper that the retrieving effect is dependent on the vertical component of the accelerated flow.<BR>Experimental results have shown that when the ratio of the minimum cylindrical inner diameter to the diameter at a skirt entrance is 0.79 the flow pattern would become very effective to retrieve yarn ends from the conical surface of a bobbin.
