Clinical effect of balofloxacin in the otorhinolaryngological field

The effectiveness and safety of a new quinolone, balofloxacin, for infections in the otorhinolaryngological field were evaluated. The drug was administered to 81 patients. The clinical efficacy rate was 83.1%, and bacteriologically, the eradication rate was 84.9% of 72 strains. No adverse drug reaction. except for one case of stomachache, or abnormal laboratory findings were observed. The results indicate that the drug is effective and useful for bacterial infections in the otorhinolaryngological field.
