S-1108, a new oral cephem antibiotic, was administered to 18 patients with superficial purulent infections in a dose of 75 mg or 150 mg t. i. d. and the following results were obtained.<BR>Clinical effects were excellent in 2 patients, good in 14, fair in 1 and poor in 1, and the rate of clinical effectiveness was 88.9%.<BR>The bacterial effects was eradication of all strains of the 12 organisms isolated.<BR>Side effects occurred in 2 patients, stomachache in 1 and constipation in the other.<BR>Abnormal laboratory findings were found in 2 patients and consisted of slight elevation of S-GOT and S-GPT in 1 patient and eosinophilia in 1 patient.
