CLINICAL STUDY OF L-105 IN THE FIELD OF INTERNAL MEDICINE

L-105, a new semisynthetic cephalosporin derivative with 1, 2, 3-thiadiazolyl group at the 3-side chain, was tried in 9 cases of infectious diseases in the field of internal medicine to investigate the efficacy and safety.<BR>Subjected were 6 cases of respiratory infection, 2 cases of urinary tract infection, and 1 case of septicemia. Causal bacteria were coagulase-negative <I>Staphylococcus</I> in 1 case, <I>Serratia marcescens</I> in 1 case, 1 unknown case, mycoplasma in 1 case, and resident bacteria in 5 cases.<BR>As for clinical efficacy, 4 out of 5 cases of respiratory infection, 2 out of 2 cases of urinary tract infection, and 1 case of septicemia were evaluated as effective or better, the efficacy rate being 87.5% (8/7).<BR>No noteworthy side effects were observed.<BR>From the results, L-105 with its excellent efficacy and safety is considered to be a useful antibiotic for infections in the field of internal medicine.
