Cefaclor (CCL) is a new oral cephalosporin antibiotic.<BR>The clinical effects and adverse reactions of CCL were investigated in 28 out-and in-patients with urinary tract infection (acute cystitis 15, chronic cystitis 9, acute pyelonephritis 1, chronic pyelonephritis 3) diagnosed from March, 1, to December, 10, 1978, at the Department of Urology of Kurume University.<BR>CCL was given 250mg (capsule) <I>t. i. d</I>. and <I>q. i. d</I>. in serious cases for 5 to 7 days, and for children CCL was given as dry syrup at a daily dosage of 300mg (20mg/kg/day) for 7 days.<BR>The clinical effects of CCL were excellent in 14 cases, good in 6 cases and poor in 8 cases, the efficacy rate was 71.4%.<BR>Especially, a satisfactory response was found in all cases of acute simple urinary tract infection.<BR>The bacteriological eradication was obtained in 17 strains out of 28 strains, the bacteriological efficacy rate was 60.7%.<BR>No adverse reaction was observed except 1 case of transient elevation of S-GPT and BUN.
