An electronic tensile machine to test load-extension behavior under any load or extension with a linear or non-linear motion has been trially built.<BR>This machine consists of three parts:<BR> i) Analog computer: This is a device to convert any load or extension into electric pressure and supply it to the amplifier of servo mechanism.<BR>ii) Automatic controller: This is a device to supply input to test pieces according to a programmed function.<BR>iii) Detector and recorder of the output.<BR>The dynamic characteristics of the machine are:<BR>1) In case of a test under any load, the open-loop transfer function is expressed by the following equation, and even at| G | =45 dB, the stability of frequency characteristics tested on a spring as a test piece is a stable system under ω≤45 rad/sec.<BR>Gof (s) = KA GP(s)/s(TMs+1) (s) e-Ls<BR>where Gp (s) is the transfer function of the testpiece.<BR>2) In case of a test under any extension, the characteristic equation of open-loop control system is shown by the following equation:<BR>Gox (s) =KB/ s(TMs+1) e-Ls<BR> The frequency characteristic is analogous to that of the above result 1) tested on a spring.<BR> 3) The closed-loop transfer function of a test under any load is expressed by the following equation, and the frequency characteristics of it tested on the spring is stable in the state of |G|=32.5 dB, ω ≤ 3O rad/sec.<BR>Gf(s) = Ke/TMs2+{1-kDLGp(s)}s+KDGp(s) e-Ls<BR>4) The closed-loop transfer function tested under any extension is shown by the following equation, and the stability of frequency characteristic of it tested on a spring is identical to the above result 3) tested on a spring.<BR>Gx (s) = KHGp(5)/TMs2+(1-KBL)s+KB e-Ls<BR>5) A few applied methods of this apparatus are described. Accordingly, this testing machine has been proved to able usable for any tests of materials.
