Jet expansion on water jet looms can be defined by the jet cone angle 2θ, on which the jet velocity at any distance from the nozzle depends.<BR>Several methods for measuring the jet velocity have been developed, among which the periodic jet cutting method has been found to be accurate and usefull. <BR>Yarn tension caused by water jet has also been studied. It is shown that the yarn tension is dependent on many factors, e. g., jet velocity, yarn velocity, jet radius and 2θ, and mainly on the jet near the nozzle.<BR>The method of determination of yarn constant has also been studied.
