CLINICAL EXPERIENCE WITH CEFODIZIME (THR-221) IN RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS

We used cefodizime (THR-221), a newly developed cephem antibiotic, in 2 cases of respiratory infection. Both were diagnosed as pneumonia accompanying lung cancer.<BR>The dose regimen was as follows. Case 1:2g b.i.d. bolus i.v. injection for 13 days. Case 2: 4g b.i.d. i.v. drip infusion for 6 days.<BR>Clinical efficacy was fair in case 1 and poor in case 2. No changes in laboratory findings due to this therapy were observed.<BR>No adverse reactions occurred in either patient.
