On the Crystal Structure of Sr3TiSi4O12(OH)•2H2O, A New Mineral

Crystal structure of new Sr-Ti hydrous silicate mineral (Komatsu, et al. 1973) was determined by X-ray method. The mineral is monoclinic, P21/m, with a=10.958(7), b=7.778(5), c=7.799(3) Å, β=100°54′(04′). The results show that in the structure the single silica chains are running along b-axis. direction and the Ti is surrounded by four oxygens of silica chains and two OH radicals forming octahedral chains along the silica chains. Sr atoms surrounded by 7 to 9 oxygen atoms, OH and H2O. The silica chains are similar to that of haradaite (Takéuchi and Joswig, 1967).
