• Four new silicon compounds, dimethoxysilanediyl bis(5<I>H</I>-octafluoropentanoate), (CH<SUB>3</SUB>O)<SUB>2</SUB>Si[OCO(CF<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>4</SUB>H]<SUB>2</SUB>, dimethoxysilanediyl bis(7<I>H</I>-dodecafluoroheptanoate), (CH<SUB>3</SUB>O)<SUB>2</SUB>Si[OCO(CF<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>6</SUB>H]<SUB>2</SUB>, dimethoxysilanediyl bis(9<I>H</I>-hexadecafluorononanoate), (CH<SUB>3</SUB>O)<SUB>2</SUB>Si[OCO(CF<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>8</SUB>H]<SUB>2</SUB>, and dimethoxysilanediyl bis(pentadecafluorooctanoate), (CH<SUB>3</SUB>O)<SUB>2</SUB>Si[OCO(CF<SUB>2</SUB>)<SUB>6</SUB>CF<SUB>3</SUB>]<SUB>2</SUB>, were prepared by the reaction of dichlorodimethoxysilane with sodium salts of fluoro-substituted carboxylic acid. The <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR, <SUP>13</SUP>C NMR, and <SUP>19</SUP>F NMR and IR spectral data of these silicon compounds were obtained. In the course of a study of the stability of the silicon compounds against hydrolysis by using <SUP>1</SUP>H NMR spectral measurements, it was found that the ease of hydrolysis of the SiOCOR and the SiOCH<SUB>3</SUB>moieties was exactly same.
