Active carbons prepared from nitrogen containing compounds were found to show high activity for SO2removal. Enhancement of the activity for NO reduction was realized by supporting vanadium ions on these active carbons. Regeneration of the catalyst was examined with various reducing agents. The activity for SO2 removal was recovered by removing sulfate ions on the catalyst with NH3 at 350 °C. The 200 h life test of the present catalyst was carried out for the simultaneous removal of SO<I>x</I> and NO<I>x</I>.
