Pulse radiolysis of α-methylstyrene was carried out in 1,2-dichloroethane, and the effect of additives on the formation of the dimer radical cations was investigated. In the presence of excess amounts of hexenes and biphenyl, the dimer radical cations are suggested to be formed via molecular aggregates by charge-transfer reactions.
