The crystal structure of trichloroacetamide has been determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction method. Intermolecular contacts have been found to be responsible for the inequivalent reorientations of the CCl<SUB>3</SUB> groups of two crystallographically-independent molecules in the crystal.
